Very happy to announce the 3 bands chosen to play at #BD2019 by Levellers & DMF from applications via Studio 54 are……….. The Recks (for The Big Top) The Rezner (for The Little Big Top) Dead Naked Hippies (for The Bimble Inn) Alternative five-piece folk band The Recks from the isle of Sark, indie-rock 4 piece from the south-west The Rezner and art-rock trio Dead Naked Hippies also get 1 free days recording & mixing at Studio as well as a slot at the festival. We are going to be screening ‘Rudeboy: The Story Of Trojan Records’ on Friday night in the Theatre Tent at Beautiful Days 2019 BMG recently commissioned Pulse Films to create a documentary on the history of the world’s most iconic and influential Jamaican music label, Trojan Records. The result is this critically acclaimed music documentary which combines compelling dramatisations of key chapters in the story, along with archive and interview footage. Headlining Saturday night in The Big Top are phenomenal Irish rock band Hothouse Flowers who combine traditional Irish music with influences from soul and rock. Their first album People in 1988 was the most successful debut album in Irish history. Also announced today to complete The Big Top line-up are former Bellowhead front-man and multiple BBC Folk Award winner Jon Boden & The Remnant Kings, revered lyricist Thea Gilmore who releases new album Small World Turning in May, plus Queen Zee – one of the most eye-catching and engaging live acts in the UK right now, folk duo The Rails and singer-songwriter Beth Rowley. The Main Stage line-up is completed by the brilliant Sam Duckworth AKA Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly, John Robb’s The Membranes with accompanying choir, folk/country band Nick Parker and the False Alarms, Cornwall based sibling duo Echo Town and Bristol’s Gaz Brookfield & The Company of Thieves.
